HPV Toolkit: Taking the Next Step
HPV Fact Zone
I have decided to get my child vaccinated, are there any preparations I should make?
- Be aware of your financial responsibility (see Vaccine Cost web page).
- It may be possible to wait until the next annual visit rather than making a special appointment, check with your child’s health care provider.
- It is important for your child to receive all three shots. Sometimes this can be challenging to schedule and to remember. Work with the receptionist to set the dates for the other shots. You can also go to the following Web site and fill out the online form to receive mail and/or email alerts to remind you about follow-up appointments: http://www.gardasil.com/what-is-gardasil/3-is-Key/three-is-key/index.html
My child has been vaccinated, how can I help the cause?
You have more influence than you may realize. You know many parents that may or may not be reached by clear, factual information on HPV and the HPV vaccine. You can help them by explaining how you arrived at your decision and leading them to information resources that you trust.
